Maxim Vengerov is a wonderful violinist but how does he fare as a conductor? Watch him in this recording of Tchaikovsky's beautiful Serenade for Strings. He certainly is passionate about the music but is it a little too distracting? I get the feeling this group would play just as well without him leading.
